Digital Documents - Clock base
I decided I wanted to do a 12-agon shape for my clock that way there was a point/side for every number and also to be a little less basic. I created my clock face in Inventor and then decided I wanted to make a hole in the back of it so that I didn't have to make something to hold the clock mechanism. Then I moved my design over to Fusion 360 where I created the tool paths and then used the router. I made one file to cut out my clock from the rest of the wood, and one file to cut out the box I made in the back of my clock for the clock mechanism. After I routed this all out I used a drill to drill out the hole in the center of my clock so that the mechanism could fit through.
Digital Documents - Dashes
Almost every clock has dashes on it so that you can tell the minutes and I wanted this on my clock as well. I found a design that worked for what I wanted on google and then copied it into Illustrator. I made it a vector image and black so that it would engrave onto my clock instead of cut out. Then I took my clock down the the laser, changed the laser settings to wood, and laser engraved my dashes.
Digital Documents - Numbers
I wanted roman numerals for my clock instead of normal numbers so I typed it into Illustrator. I then set them up so they were the right distance apart and other such things. I then went down and used the Vinyl cutter to cut them out. The only thing left to do was to then put them on my clock in the correct spots.

What I Learned
I learned a lot during this unit even though I knew how to use all the machines. For my clock I used more complicated tool paths, different laser settings, and a different mill end. Also I earned how to extend my trial on Fusion 360 when it runs out. Outside of the machines I used in class, I learned how to sand and stain a wood board. I've never stained wood before so I got my dad to help me. Staining wasn't hard but it took a long time to dry. However the main thing this project taught me was to be patient because it's not normally go to work right away and you'll have to retry a few times to get it right. Despite this project being a little frustrating I enjoyed learning how to do more complicated things.
